War on obesity wages in US classroom

Education and health officials have stepped up their fight against obesity in US schools by trying to replace greasy fast food with healthy male .They are seeing small but encouraging results. Nearly 13 million children and adolescents in the US are overweight, a particularly worrying segment in a country where 200 million people-or two third of the population are overweight or obese.

The pollution in Beijing is rising the likehood that some olympic evnt might be cancled. The air quality is pretty bad due to heavy traffics and factories. China will close down te factory there, and closing the road to prevent cars from coming to reduce pollution.

Sulawesi volcano erupts on java island yesterday morning. The nearest village are 8km from the crater's mouth clear from danger zone.Nobody was killed or injured. Indonesia has more active volcanoes than any toher nation because of its location at the pacific "Ring of Fire".

More larger dogs have been given up since heftier penalties for unlicensed dog kick in. Only dogs weighing less than 10kg and 40cm in height are allowed in HDB flats. It is an offence to abandon a pet, and those guilty could be fine dup to $10,000 .

3-D ANIMATION GOES TO SCHOOL

Come next year 2o students from 8 schools can take 3-D animation as an O-level subject-one of the three new applied subjects that will be offered in eight secondary schools. They are in additon to D&T, F&N and principle of accounts.

Enter the Traffic Marshals

Another team of uniformed men in blue will soon be patrolling our expressway. These people on motorbikes and in patrol car will not be drawn from the Traffic Police, but rather, Traffic Marshals. Thier aim is to ensure that traffic on espressway here remains smooth flowing and to arrive within eight to 15 minutes of activation to attend to accident.

It may be possible, to fly from singapore to Kuala Lumpur without burning a hole in one's pocket by December.The lucrative route has long been monopolised by Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, resulting in passenger having to pay more than $400 for a round-trip ticket on a flight that take less than 45 minutes. However AisAsia and Tiger Airways which is partly owned by SIA, could only be allowed to fly two flgihts per day onb each route but only during off-peak hours, to soften the blow for MAS.
