Malaysia's prime minister said that energy subsides have to be reduced,as Malaysia could not afford to spend RM35 billion($15.2billion) on oil and gas subsidies each year. He said that the RM40 billion spent annually on energy and other subsidies were equal to the funds spent promoting national development-part of Malaysia's plans to achieve develop status by 2020.
